The SURF Engine provides all necessary building blocks for developing high-quality video applications, with a short time-to-market and optimal price performance
Yokne'am, Israel – 17 December, 2009 — SURF Communication Solutions, announced today that Timo Technology, a leading Korean vendor of network products, has selected the SURF Engine as the pumping heart of its novel video gateway.
Timo’s video gateway provides a bridge between telcos’ IMS network, such as Korea Telecom, and wireless 3G networks, such as KTF and SKT. Using Timo’s system millions of wireless users can now access interactive video IP services, such as Video Telephony, Video Ring Back and Video Conferencing, between the cellular network and the fixed IP network. Convergence is here!
SURF’s video engine provides a comprehensive best-of-breed toolbox for video and voice application developers. SURF’s products provide enabling technologies for mobile, TV and web video, from codecs, through transcoding, quality enhancement, video enrichment, conferencing and more. Based on DSP technology, SURF-powered systems enjoy the best quality, density and cost. The SURF Engine is delivered as chip, board or appliance.
“We considered using an internal trunk gateway platform with video support for this project, but soon realized it couldn’t compete with the SURF solution,” said Mr. SoonKyun Beom, Vice President, Head of Network R&D Center, TIMO. “The accelerated time to market, market references, and rich feature set provided by the SURF Engine made the choice obvious.”
“We are pleased to power Timo’s video gateway,” said Eli Nakash, SURF’s Sales Director, APAC. “This project demonstrates how SURF's multimedia processing expertise and dedicated customer care enable the rapid development of feature-rich, scalable solutions.”
