H324/3G-324M Compliance
In Surf's Triple-Play media processing products, voice, video, and data can be processed simultaneously on a single DSP, using a single system. The result is a cost-effective and scaleable system allowing step-by-step migration from 'Voice only', to a 'full Voice and Video' system. It lowers the migration costs for equipment vendors, allowing them to integrate Triple Play solutions into their existing products.

A Complete and Open Solution
SurfWare-Media™ offers an unprecedented range of Voice, Video, Fax and Modem conversion engines. These are offered in various hardware and software integration levels, ranging from software algorithms to DSP-farm resource boards. Surf's Open Framework enables customers to integrate their own technology easily into Surf's offering, resulting in significantly shortened time-to-market and reduced development costs.
SurfWare-Media supports ITU-T V.18: Termination of TTY/TDD end user equipment, including support for different terminals defined by the V.18 standard. In these cases, SurfWare-Media acts as a building block for the Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS).

SurfWare-Media for Media Gateway Developers
Developers of Media Gateways are facing constant pressure on their pricing criteria. They are also required to improve their offer continuously for the support of legacy and new media types. SurfWare-Media, a field-hardened Universal Port solution, optimized for densities of E1/T1 on-a-chip, offers support for an extensive range of Voice, Video, Fax and Modem features. Additionally, it enables customization by facilitating the integration of Media Gateway technologies into Surf's solution by developers.

SurfWare-Media for Messaging System Developers
Developers of Voice and Video Messaging, Unified Communications, IVR and Attendance systems need to efficiently and reliably convert data that arrives from various networks and in diverse formats into storable file formats and vice versa. These store-and-forward systems are particularly sensitive to communication bottlenecks. Relying on available temporary storage of up to 24MB per DSP (when using the recommended hardware configuration), SurfWare-Media provides efficient Host-DSP communications for continuously smooth operation.
|
SurfWare-Media for RAS Systems Developers
In the market of RAS systems, manufacturers are continuously struggling to offer new and unique solutions. With SurfWare-Media, RAS system manufacturers can lower their solution's cost per-port, get higher density per chip (up to 32 ports) and offer new features, such as same-chip support for VoIP and RAS calls. These enable them to increase their competitiveness in a tough market.

Enabling Easy and Fast Development and Integration
Surf Open Framework
SurfWare-Media enables solution providers to integrate their own software into SurfWare-Media's existing feature-rich media-processing capabilities. The integration is completed in a few simple steps:
- Developing a new algorithm based on the Surf Open Port API guidelines
- Compiling the new algorithm
- Linking the new algorithm with the existing media-processing libraries
- Updating the application-level H file to contain the new controlling/monitoring structures
|
Integration with Customer Application
SurfWare-Media includes a range of components for fast and simple integration into the customer's application. They include:
- An abstraction layer for hardware transparency
- Host OS support for Linux®, VxWorks™ and Windows®
- Support for Ethernet and HPI/PCI communication paths
|
Remote Diagnostics and Analysis Capabilities
Surf offers SurfDetect™, a tool providing remote diagnostic collection from deployed systems and invocation of diagnostics on a per-DSP/per-port/per-service basis. |
Development Tools
Surf customers enjoy the following tools that help them shorten and simplify development:
- Surf Starter Kit is a hardware-software platform with sample applications that enable development and integration of application software prior to hardware platform development and serves as a reference system
- SurfView™ is a GUI application for control and access of all Host API parameters of SurfWare-Media
