In Surf's Triple-Play media processing products, voice, video, and data can be processed simultaneously on a single DSP, using a single system. The result is a cost-effective and scaleable system allowing step-by-step migration from 'Voice only', to a 'full Voice and Video' system. It lowers the migration costs for equipment vendors, allowing them to integrate Triple Play solutions into their existing products.

Surf's Transcoding Subsystems for Video Applications
Surf provides a wide range of media processing, media transport and call setup functions, integrated with robust, field-proven hardware platforms, to enable rapid development and deployment of full-featured video gateways. Supported transcoding functionality includes codec conversion (H.263, MPEG-4, H.264), resizing, bit rate and frame rate conversion, conferencing, lip sync, dynamic addition of graphic overlay, text, and logos, and background and foreground manipulation, enabling easy connection between various types of IP video phones and 3G mobile phones that support different capabilities, video optimization according to terminal capabilities, and the addition of advertisements, messages or any other dynamic change of the video stream. See System Architecture and Software Specifications for more information.

Building 3G Mobile Network Gateway Applications
Surf's support for 3G-324M enables developers to build 3G mobile network gateway applications using a simple and flexible API. Implementation of the support is in compliance with the 3GPP 3G-324M standard for mobile environments. As part of the SurfWare-Media package, Surf's support for 3G-324M can be used to build a wide variety of applications including 3G-to-IP audio/video gateways, 3G video-mail servers, video conferencing servers, and more. See the How to Build a “Lean and Mean” Video Gateway Using 3G-324M-over-IP white paper for more information.

Flexible, Modular AMC DSP Resource Board Will Take You from Prototype Through Production
The SurfRider/AMC DSP Resource Board introduces a highly innovative patent-pending design featuring the SurfDocker™, a modular plug-in that carries pairs of mixed types of DSPs and supports a variety of configurations to meet your development requirements. This paradigm allows varying types of DSPs to be assembled simultaneously on a single AMC carrier, including TI's C64x generation, C54x generation, or any new processor that is released to market. Up to four SurfDocker modules can be plugged into a single SurfRider/AMC, for a total of eight DSPs per AMC board. The SurfRider/AMC has been pre-integrated with a number of leading carrier manufacturers' products and can be mounted on various platforms, such as ATCA and MicroTCA.

Seamless Integration of User-Defined & Proprietary Algorithms
Surf's Open Framework concept allows application developers to integrate their company's intellectual property and technology (e.g., proprietary maintenance channel, voice recognition channels, encryption, etc.) directly onto the DSP in order to leverage previous resource investments and development efforts.
