Interphase Corporation and Surf Communication Solutions Collaborate on Voice-over-IP and Media-over-Packet Solutions

Partnership will be key in the effective integration of voice and video applications on next-generation AdvancedTCA®, AdvancedMC™ and MicroTCA™ platforms

Yokne'am, ISRAEL & PLANO, TX - October 12, 2006 -- Interphase Corporation (NASDAQ:INPH), a leading provider of robust building blocks, highly integrated subsystems and innovative gateway appliances for the converged communications network, and Surf Communication Solutions (“Surf”), a leading developer of high-capacity multimedia processing boards for the telecommunication infrastructure market, today announced their partnership to jointly develop and market AdvancedTCA®- and AdvancedMC™-based convergent media solutions to the communications market. The initial combined Interphase/Surf solution is a highly-scalable, modular application subsystem which enables the delivery of next generation convergent AdvancedTCA, MicroTCA, and proprietary communications systems, such as IP-to-IP and TDM (Mobile)-to-IP media gateways, media-enhanced servers, session border controllers, CTI applications (e.g., voice and video mail), conference bridges, wireless base stations, iPBX, and softswitches.

“Media stream transport and processing is a key building block requirement for the delivery of advanced services in the network”, said Greg Kalush, president and chief executive officer of Interphase Corporation. “This partnership with Surf combines best-of-breed media processing and intelligent input/output solutions, enabling our customers to deliver voice and video processing solutions to the marketplace using standards-based, cost-effective AdvancedTCA platforms.”

“The union between the robust Interphase AdvancedMC and AdvancedTCA carrier board products and the unique media processing capabilities of our SurfRider/AMC DSP resource board - wherein all three media types: voice, video and data (fax and modem) can be processed simultaneously on a single DSP - will provide our customers with comprehensive, cost-effective, and easy-to-integrate communication solutions to drive and distribute their voice and video applications,” commented Eyal Zagagi, president and CEO of Surf Communication Solutions.

The integrated solution utilizes I-TDM technology which creates a flexible, scaleable and robust solution for the telecommunications market. The fully integrated blade level subsystem solution will initially include the SurfRider/AMC™ family of multimedia processing DSP resource boards together with the Interphase iSPAN 3639 Multiprotocol T1/E1/J1 Communications Controller AdvancedMC solution on the Interphase iNAV 31K AdvancedTCA Carrier Board. The Surf media processing enabling solutions run on Texas Instruments (TI) state-of-the-art TMS320C64xT DSP generation. This powerful solution offering delivers low power, ultra-dense processing for lower operating costs and a ‘swap-in/swap-out’ flexibility for media gateway and media server systems. In early 2007, the Interphase iSPAN 3632 Channelized OC-3/STM-1 AdvancedMC supporting over 8000 voice channels will be added to this integrated solution.

From October 17 - 19, 2006, Surf Communication Solutions and Interphase Corporation will be showcasing these products at the ATCA Summit in Santa Clara, California.
